• Launched his eponymous womenswear brand in Vienna in 2009
• Viennese modernism, purist form and the women that surround him have a profound

Uncompromising when it comes to quality and craftsmanship, Petar Petrov has become renowned for creating a dynamic, elegant aesthetic that fuses a precise balance of opposing elements – soft and strong, fluid and tailored, masculine and feminine.

“Modern elegance is made up of equal parts attitude and style”. Petar Petrov appreciates that modern elegance is made up of equal parts attitude and style. “My goal is to constantly redefine a new idea of elegance for today. One that is bold and strident yet personal and sensual… Our clothes are always about freedom of movement, and in my designs, I hope a woman can realize her own strength and feel at one with herself.”

Petar Petrov is recognized for bringing a dynamic edge to elegant silhouettes. Razor sharp tailoring, fluid fabrics and distinctive prints paint the picture of his powerful and feminine style. Each season is built on the previous with a precise sense of reinvention to create pieces with versatility and longevity at the fore. “My primary inspiration is, and always has been, real women. What’s relevant for her, what is the next step in her journey? It’s a very emotional way of working.”

Working intuitively without seasonal themes, fabrics and materials dictate the design, while colour and drape guide the proportions. Natural fibres including merino wool, cashmere, silk and lambskin form the core of every collection. “We redevelop the colour and texture language season by season. We also choose materials for their tactile appeal, how good they feel on the skin.”

With an instinct for timelessness that trickles into every detail and versatility that plays through the scales, Petar Petrov’s star has rapidly risen over the last years as has his loyal celebrity, influencer and real women tribe.

The Petar Petrov’s Fall Winter 2022-2023 collection is about simplicity and clarity. It takes its roots in my desire to create an effortless, yet powerful way of dressing that allows the wearer to confidently stride out and take on each day as it comes. Between long lean cargo pants, outsize sheepskin aviator jackets, and wrap leather dresses – I hope you will find designs that become the future you.

This collection is about simplicity and clarity. It takes its roots in my desire to create an effortless, yet powerful way of dressing that allows the wearer to confidently stride out and take on each day as it comes.

Crafted in the most luxurious natural fibers – supple leather, velvet, silk, denim and wool – the pieces whether a turtleneck wrap leather dress or a slender legged cargo trouser are streamlined, distinct and signal a way of being in step with the world.

Simplicity does not have to be unremarkable or anonymous. The collection is designed with maximum attention paid to detailing (poppers! lapels! shoulder lines! top stitching!) and to carefully calibrated proportions. The goal is maximum versatility now and in years to come. I believe these innate qualities enhance the wearer’s confidence and individual sense of style.

I also wanted to infuse a measure of sexiness without relying on spotlight grabbing tropes. Elegant statement pieces feature thigh splits, wrap waists, cut out necklines, tie strings and are designed in sumptuous fabrics including velvet, rib silk knit and semi sheer knit texture print silk. Buttons, shirt tail hems and long cuffs allow for numerous self-styling options – there is no prescriptive way of wearing these pieces and this collection’s adaptability is only limited by one’s own imagination.

Day and night, this collection offers every woman an instinctive, effortless way of dressing for the times we live in.

Interview with Petar Petrov

What is the story behind the collection?
This collection is about simplicity and clarity. It takes its roots in our desire to create an effortless way of dressing whilst at the same time making a soft power statement allowing the wearer to confidently stride out to take on each day as it comes.

How do you see new ways of fashion today?
I think that fashion is about a constant change, and the most challenging aspect for me is to reflect our environment and create clothes that are relevant for today. I think that people have forgotten that, whilst fashion is about creativity, it is also about the clothes we live in. In addition, it is important to establish how to communicate and engage the customer on all marketing platforms available to us.

Sustainability. How has the brand adapted today to this new demand?
Of course, I do believe that the main focus here is how we consume. If we focus on buying less but buying better, it will help to prevent the overproduction of cheap products that have an overall negative effect on our environment and allow people to work for nothing.

Digital / interactive. How do you as a designer see this digital way to present the collection?
The digital way to present the collection is not a new concept for me, as we launched our previous collections in this way before the pandemic. I think it’s a great way to engage the customer, and that’s the most important aspect for us.

How do you see the connection with the buyers?
We have been able to strengthen our relationships with our loyal buyers over the years and worked together to simultaneously understand and establish the best solution to the problems and challenges that arise. This has allowed us to not only sustain but grow our business during challenging times.

What do you think will be the trend in the upcoming Fall Winter 2022-2023 season?
I have never been one to look at trends as ultimately, we should be the ones creating them without needing to look at what’s around… I think it is down to the journalists to identify the overall Vibe occurring and see if there are parallels.

How do you see the future of fashion?
You know, people need clothes, and we just have to create the right clothes depending on how our society evolves…

Are you optimistic about it?
I’m definitely optimistic as fashion is so intertwined with the joy of life, helping to make our lives more beautiful, more interesting and more enjoyable. Whether someone is interested in fashion or not it doesn’t matter – everyone wears clothes and makes a statement with what they wear.

NFT… Metaverse… Are you planning to develop in this new technology?
I do not believe in that sorry… I see the future in a different way, and I think that that area of that technology could only be helpful in creating a more sustainable way of development.

What actions / dedications, if any has been taken by your brand to support Ukraine?
We’re donating 10% of profits from online orders to the UN Refugee Agency @refugees and Caritas @caritaswirhelfen which are currently providing emergency relief to Ukraine. We’re also looking at how we can help other creatives who have been affected by offering them job opportunities and a chance to regain a sense of normality during challenging times.
