This is one of these miracles, an amazing compound of fashion and technology, new experiment of Kunihiko Morinaga, founder and creative director of An-Real-Age. “Anrealage uses fashion to explore the evolution of human perception and how every living organism — no matter how simple or complex — inhabits a world of its own,” – said Kunihiko Morinaga in his interview.
“This is the philosophical / biological concept of Umwelt — our perception of our environment is defined by our capacity to perceive — to make the point that things are not necessarily what they seem to be.”
What technology do we see? It’s a light-dependent (UV, sunlight) color-changing photochromic fabric. Kunihiko Morinaga said that this is the first time he used it on fake fur, velvet, lace, knits, satins, and cotton. He found the possibilities to create the shifting shades of colors with light.
These clothes react to the UV in sunlight. This reaction is based on weather conditions. Weather changes, clothes – changes. Kunihiko Morinaga at the show put 2 different white pieces on the models and hovered UV light over them, as we do when we are getting a tan. And we saw how these clothes transformed, we saw the colors and patterns appearing in front of our eyes.
