Balmain Spring Summer 2022. Review by Eleonora de Gray, Editor-in-Chief of RUNWAY MAGAZINE ® – International Twofold Media known Worldwide.
In Paris we have a “wonder”, a designer – Olivier Rousteing, designer of Balmain, who celebrated 10 years of his presence in Balmain and the counterfeit. Despite all odds, he wanted to have it big, he wanted to have it fab… he wanted to have it…. period.
He wanted millions to see his Balmain series “Fracture” at the beginning of the September…. well… only 1,490 people were really interested to watch it. So he had to remove social media accounts for these series (I have the screenshots in case someone is interested). But hey…. who cares, right?
Then Olivier Rousteing wanted to have a big big… and big, one more time, Balmain Festival, so millions of people could come… well… in reality few people actually came. From the looks of it Miss Caribbean, and couple of other girls came. There are only few posts, and you can see about 10 people on the pictures… that is already a lot, I might add.
NO ONE IS INTERESTED!!! Olivier Rousteing paid to the different media to “overwrite” the reality. Ones again he distributed the press-releases announcing that he had a success like Beyoncé. No matter what media shamelessly published this press-release the reality remains the same. Go to instagram and check. That’s the dream which will never come true. WHO he wants to kid? He asked people from the street to come for the show to fill the place, literally. And of course this was free entrance to everybody. Why no one posted? 22 Instagram posts about the Balmain Festival 2021 and Balmain show with dozen of likes. The only post has a success is from Carla Bruni – 37k likes. But it is fabulous her… And that says it all!

And now for the best. The show was showing many stars. Balmain brand could afford these fabulous super models from the past.
Many replicas of different designers were spotted tonight. Surely models today wore replicas. In fact Olivier Rousteing pulled out his old pieces, the school work pieces, starting from 2012 he picked up along the way when he learned from the masters like Jean Paul Gaultier, Thierry Mugler, Rick Owens. He choose for tonight the ones what don’t look like exact replicas, but the ones he got little carried away and actually added something from himself.
Here’s the press-release of the Balmain Spring Summer 2022 collection (slightly modified – adjusted to reality):
Celebrating 10 years at the helm, Olivier Rousteing goes dark and counterfeiting for Balmain’s Spring Summer 2022 collection. Emblematic to the Balmain brand, Rousteing commemorates his ten-year tenure with sultry, neutral-toned cutout ensembles with notes of red and gold—redefining Balmain’s glimmering opulence for Spring/Summer 2022.
The show began on a daring note with pieces that encapsulated a whole new meaning to sexy: bare, bold, and brawny. Models were donned in utility-inspired pieces accessorized with chunky gold jewelry and contemporary accent pieces from futuristic sunglasses to puffer bags. In a swift turn of events, supermodel Naomi Campbell opened what seemed to be a second act to Rousteing’s Spring Summer 2022 collection with gold-embellished dresses, co-ord sets, and jumpsuits gleaming with regality and grandiosity.
The runway show hosted Paris Fashion Week’s “biggest” music festival which no one really noticed in Paris, with special performances from Doja Cat and Franz Ferdinand at the Seine Musicale in Paris. And none of these musicians posted anything about “biggest and the loudest”, according to press-release ONLY, The Balmain Festival V02. The only one sad Miss Caribbean attended the The Balmain Festival V02 during 2 these days.
Special runway appearances were made by Adut Akech and Carla Bruni as they walked the runway to a sentimental message by Rousteing’s long-time friend and confidante Beyoncé who praised and congratulated the designer for his unparalleled vision for the French luxury house.
