Bottega Veneta Detroit Salon 03 – Spring 2022. Review by RUNWAY MAGAZINE.
Bottega Veneta for the last 3 years, since English designer Daniel Lee took place as a creative director changed completely it’s strategy, it’s meaning of life… identity.
Daniel Lee announced “Bottega Veneta world tour”, with stops in the most unusual places in the planet. Fashion weeks to show Spring Summer 2022 collection have long passed. Daniel Lee chose the most unusual, and absolutely not fashion place, to show – Detroit, the largest city in the midwestern state of Michigan. Detroit is an industrial city, with primary development in auto industry. The nickname of Detroit – the “Motor City”. So the fashion is quiet unknown to its habitants.
“Salon 03” – that’s how Bottega Veneta show called, took place in Detroit’s Michigan Theatre. 4000 places were organized for the guests. 55 modern pieces of workwear for men and women were presented to the invited, and seriously confused but very interested public.
“Salon 03” was not just a show, it was a some sort of a culture tour that included stops at Hawkins Ferry House in Grosse Point, the world’s first Techno museum, Exhibition 3000, and the studio of the industrial designer Chris Shanks. The show followed an pop-up Bottega Veneta shop for 3 months at a decommissioned firehouse in the city’s Corktown neighborhood.
This is a very curious story and approach to see the new public and get the interest. Why not? A worker after hard day in the manufacture, after piling the tires, can get dressed spending a 1500$ for a garment (a monthly budget for his rent, or monthly budget of his family). After all, why not… After all pieces of Daniel Lee for Bottega Veneta can end up in local Techno museum.
Back earth to Daniel….
