CHRISTIAN DIOR – Couturier of Dream. The Museum of Decorative Arts celebrates the anniversary marking the 70th anniversary of the creation of the Christian Dior house. This exhibition, rich and dense, invites the visitor to discover the world of its founder and renowned couturiers who have succeeded him: Yves Saint Laurent, Marc Bohan, Gianfranco Ferre, John Galliano, Raf Simons and recently Maria Grazia Chiuri. Emotions, stories, affinities, inspirations, creations and filiations link this selection of more than 300 couture dresses designed from 1947 to the present day.
Alongside them, and for the first time in such an exhaustive manner, are studio canvases and fashion photographs, as well as several hundred documents (illustrations, sketches, reportage photographs, letters and manuscripts, advertising documents …), and fashion objects (hats, jewelery, bags, shoes, bottles of perfumes …). And if Christian Dior was also a man of art and a lover of museums, more than 70 years of creation also dialogue with paintings, furniture and objects of art. These works underline and prolong the look of Christian Dior by exploring the links he has woven between couture and all forms of art, defining the imprint of the house. The two curators, Florence Müller and Olivier Gabet, have constructed their story along a chronological and thematic path that brings together, for the first time, bringing together the spaces dedicated to fashion.
