There’s been a lots of talk last year about NFT, and how it can be used to protect digital goods. Many attempts have been made in fashion industry to understand and make it work. Dolce Gabbana is a first brand who’s actually succeeded and launched its first “drop”, a collection Collezione Genesi.

Today Dolce Gabbana made their first “drop”. And the auction started. It’ll take 1-2 days.

What is NFT and how it works?

According to explanation given on Dolce Gabbana web-site NFT means a non-fungible token. NFTs are digital tokens on blockchain, that can be used to represent ownership of unique items. They let us tokenize goods like art, music, collectables, sport memorabilia, or every physical or digital asset worth to be represented in the digital space. NFTs can have only one owner at a time, and they are secured by the blockchain. In other terms, no one can modify the record of ownership or duplicate your NFT.

Non-fungible is a definition that you could use to describe objects or goods which are not interchangeable with other items, because they have unique properties. For example, dollars are fundable, because you can always exchange 10$ with 10 one-dollar bills. Otherwise, collectibles are not fungible, because every item has a different value from another.

NFTs solve some of the problems that exist on the internet today. As everything becomes more digital, there’s a need to replicate the properties of physical items like scarcity, uniqueness, proof of ownership, and anti-counterfeit.

NFTs have some special properties:

• each token minted has a unique identifier;
• each token has an owner, and this information is easily verifiable;
• no one can manipulate it in any way.

They exist on the blockchain, and they can be bought and sold peer-to-peer as well as on any blockchain-based NFT marketplace. You are not locked into any special platform, and you don’t need anyone to intermediate NFTs.

Dolce Gabbana NFTs live in the Ethereum blockchain. Ethereum is the most widely used blockchain in the world, with a market capitalization second only to Bitcoin. Most of the NFTs market is on Ethereum. NFT ownership is recorded on the blockchain, and that entry acts as a digital certificate. The blockchain is a transparent ledger that everyone can verify, but which can’t be counterfeited.

Titled The Impossible Tiara, the delicate white gold filigree features a constellation of neon turquoise tourmalines crowned by red emeralds. Each gem is inspired by real ones that can no longer be found on earth, while the 16-carat central red emerald shimmers with an extra metaphysical inner fire. Coming next is The Lion Crown. The regally maned heads encircling the crowns corona stem from both their association with royalty and the city’s Lion of Venice, while the spectacular work features beautiful gems.

Completing the set is the crown jewel of St. Mark’s Square, fit for The City’s ruler, the Doge of Venice. The Doge Crown is encircled with the golden zodiac signs of the square’s clocktower and capped with the shimmering rays of a bejeweled sun, all covered with breathtaking gems. Legend has it that the one who possesses The Doge Crown will be the self-appointed King of Crypto…

Personally designed by Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana, The Doge Crown is inspired by Venice’s most famous location: Piazza San Marco. Within Piazza San Marco resides the Doge’s Palace (also known as Palazzo Ducale) along with the famous clock tower. On the top of the clock tower there is the symbol of Venice, the sun with a face, which is also represented inside the clock tower. This museum-grade piece of sculptural art took hundreds of hours to create by hand across both the physical and digital versions.
