As Fendi approaches its centenary, the brand’s Menswear Spring Summer 2025 collection stands as a testament to both its rich heritage and forward-looking vision. Silvia Venturini Fendi, Artistic Director of Accessories and Menswear, encapsulates the essence of Fendi as a traveling time capsule, blending decades and destinations with an unwavering commitment to Italian craftsmanship.
Celebrating the Pillars of Masculine Elegance
The collection is an homage to Fendi’s storied past while boldly reimagining the future. The pillars of the Fendi men’s wardrobe, first unveiled in 1990, are transformed into sartorial masterpieces that reflect contemporary masculinity. The collection’s palette is a symphony of powdery shades, including sherbet, mist, ivory, caramel, and buttermilk, mingling with soft blues, natural indigo, black, and forest green. These colors evoke a sense of nostalgia and elegance, perfectly balanced between sports and ceremony.
The Fendi Club: A Fantasy of Modern Luxury
A central theme of the collection is the idea of the Fendi Club, an imagined society of modern elegance and luxury. The Fendi crest, featuring the iconic Pequin stripe, FF logo, Janus the Roman god of beginnings and endings, and the Fendi squirrel, is prominently displayed on breast pockets and buttons. This emblematic crest serves as a fantasy coat-of-arms, symbolizing the brand’s timeless appeal and innovative spirit.
The Selleria Stitch: A Testament to Craftsmanship
From head to toe, the collection showcases the virtuosity of the Selleria stitch, a technique inherited from Roman master saddlers in 1925. This intricate stitch is reinterpreted in various forms, from a broken pinstripe suiting jacquard to a tonal FF logo threaded through plush textures. The stitch is applied to Japanese boro denim, crisp wool outerwear, and luxurious leather goods, highlighting Fendi’s dedication to impeccable craftsmanship.
Asymmetry and Fluidity in Design
The collection features subtle volumes that whisper of the past while embracing modernity. Ample cloth bomber jackets, fluid trench coats, and three-button blazers paired with slashed trousers cut loose through the leg create an elegant yet relaxed silhouette. Asymmetry is a key design element, with poplin shirt sleeves slashed at the elbow, polo plackets twisting from throat to rib, and asymmetric silk knits that unbutton down the shoulder, offering a dynamic and modular approach to menswear.
Layered Textures and Luxurious Materials
Layering is another hallmark of the collection, with pleated shorts, long patch-pocket overshirts with silk ties, and short summer jackets in tonal combinations of linen, leather, Madras check cotton, and ultralight suede. This layered approach creates a rich, textural depth that is both sophisticated and effortlessly chic.
Accessories: Echoing the Season’s Theme
The Accessories collection is a continuation of the Selleria obsession. Highlights include the Peekaboo ISeeU Soft bag, supple diagonal shoppers, and the new zippered Baguette Double crossbody bag. A standout piece is the patchwork Baguette, crafted from multi-colored offcuts from the Fendi ateliers. Footwear features whipstitch details on contrast-paneled Fendi Force sneakers, moulded lug-sole loafers, and patent leather or wax thread-embroidered slip-on flats.
A Show to Remember
The Fendi Men’s Spring Summer 2025 fashion show was held at the 7000sqm Open Studio at Super Studio Maxi in Milan, the first LEED Gold®-certified event space in Europe. Designed by Nico Vascellari, the minimalist set featured six mirror columns and mobile monoliths, creating infinite corridors and reflections that tracked the models’ paths. The custom electronic soundtrack by Vascellari, in collaboration with Rocco Rampino, added an oscillating, romantic beat that perfectly complemented the airy, daylight setting of the show.
In celebrating nearly a century of unparalleled craftsmanship and innovation, Fendi’s collection not only honors the brand’s illustrious history but also sets a bold, elegant course for the future.
