Just this once I’d like to allow myself to start this review on influencer way: WOW!!!! But I’m not going to limit by that. I think I’m becoming a fan of Gucci. Sabato De Sarno, new artistic director of Gucci, only moved to Gucci house April 28, 2023. It is of course common effort, effort of the atelier of Gucci but…. There are some remarkable codes that finally entered the House of Gucci. Let us hope that will last.
Yes, of course I see Valentino’s lines, fabrics and bows. And it is in his own way, in his own very modern vision. Gucci became an elegant brand with a quiet wholesome way of style, which I might say is very surprising given all the controversy and perversity so cherished by François-Henri Pinault, Chairman & CEO of Kering, owner of Gucci.
What to notice: fencing corsets, cut sleeves, fabulous crystal embroideries, huge prints of strawberry jellies, hoodie with kitten pow and butterfly, very Italian tailored white suits, floral tapestry as the corset, huge fake pearls, slinky black suits and dresses… I can go on.
What I see now is a strong competition to Louis Vuitton, Dior and Chanel. Go figure. The Cruise 2024 show took place at Seoul’s historic Gyeongbokgung Palace. Built in 1395, Gyeongbokgung Palace was not only the main royal palace of the Joseon Dynasty, but also a center of great developments in science, literature, architecture, and art.
