The Gucci Spring Summer 2025 collection, under the creative helm of Sabato De Sarno, serves as a vibrant tribute to life’s simplest yet most profound moments. In a season that captures the essence of joy, sun, and introspection, De Sarno weaves together the nostalgia of endless summers with a fresh perspective on modern luxury, drawing inspiration from iconic muses and timeless style.

At its core, the collection is an ode to the fleeting yet intense moments of life—an invitation to pause, reflect, and savor the beauty of the present. As De Sarno eloquently put it, the collection is about “moments to seize and live intensely.” This ethos is vividly realized through a runway experience that recalls the golden hues of a summer sunset, with La Triennale in Milan, the historic site of art and design, transformed into a stage where the colors of dusk—yellow, orange, and Ancora red—breathe life into the garments.

“Moments to seize and live.
A precious moment in time,
an instant to seize and
live intensely.
And the sun that dips into the sea
at the end of an August day
And finding yourself with yourself stressed,.
The collection is a tribute to
simple moments and an invitation to stop,
in search of your own.”

De Sarno’s personal memories of August holidays in Formentera with his family inspired the collection’s sun-drenched, carefree mood. Yet, his muse for this season was none other than Jackie O—one of Gucci’s most iconic clients. While the collection opens with a more understated look—think slouchy trousers paired with a wool bomber and sneakers—the spirit of Jackie O emerges as the show progresses. Archival prints on headscarves, oversized sunglasses, and wide-brimmed hats evoke her timeless elegance, especially during her Capri-era escapades. A fluoro green woven raffia coat and seaside-inspired separates, all inspired by a photo of Queen Elizabeth II in Gucci, nod to the jet-set style of the 1960s.

The collection doesn’t just revel in the past—it reimagines it for today’s Gucci woman. Celebrities like Kirsten Dunst, Dakota Johnson, and Daisy Edgar-Jones marveled at a red carpet-worthy mirror sequin sleeveless dress, a testament to De Sarno’s ability to balance high fashion glamour with the breezy, laid-back energy of summer. For those in tune with Gucci’s rich history, De Sarno paid homage to the brand’s iconic 1996 Tom Ford white jersey dresses, albeit with a twist—his version featured deeper colors, gold bamboo-shaped arm bands, and chokers. Meanwhile, the Bamboo bag, a Gucci staple for 60 years, made a significant appearance, with vintage versions customized by Japanese artists taking the spotlight.

One of the collection’s highlights was the new casual direction that De Sarno introduced. Oversized coats with hems that skim the floor, worn over tanks and boyish jeans, encapsulated a carefree yet refined attitude—an embodiment of modern-day jet-set style. The casual elegance felt like De Sarno’s breakthrough, marking a shift in Gucci’s recent more serious tone toward something brighter, more optimistic.

As the models danced and sang along to Fiordaliso’s nostalgic tunes, it was clear that De Sarno had successfully infused this season with a sunny, happy spin—one that embraced the lightness of being while staying true to Gucci’s storied heritage. The collection invites wearers to bask in the sun, cherish life’s fleeting moments, and find themselves amid it all.

In Gucci Spring/Summer 2025, Sabato De Sarno reminds us that fashion, like life, is about the moments we choose to seize—and the joy of living them fully.
