Jean Paul Gaultier Haute Couture Fall Winter 2019-2020 Paris Fashion Week. Like a trompe l’oeil, this new collection Jean Paul Gaultier Paris Fall Winter 2019-2020 Haute Couture collection played with volumes and optical illusions by declining false pretenses to infinity through printed materials and upsetting the bestial silhouettes and giving life to a poetic collective hallucination…
Jean Paul Gaultier played with optical effects to create the illusion of fur.
“Going forward, if I use fur, it will be only recycling,” he said. “I like fur, I’ve always liked it, but I think that since the world is already full of clothes and full of furs, there is no need to kill anymore animals. Maybe with old furs, you can create new looks.”
Gaultier used marabou feathers to add a fuzzy touch to the high collars. Chocolate tones gave a quilted satin skirt suit a reptilian allure. A leopard dress had crystal embroidery.
There were comic-book silhouettes, black tuxedo-ish jumpsuits with a sleeve sprouting 3-D attachments, cone hats propped up tent-like veils, including one made of pleated purple tulle, op Art embroidered dress with rainbow feather sleeves – all the looks gave the impression of a futuristic parade of the Christmas trees, with call back to 90s.
