Maison Margiela Spring Summer 2021

Maison Margiela Spring Summer 2021 “Still With A Loving Kiss”. John Galliano presented a movie at Paris Fashion week. Artistic dancing, backstage artisanal work and interview – all of these mix-match laid down as a sustainability concept of Maison Margiela. John Galliano told about his passion to discover old pieces on flee-markets all over the world, replicate them, re-create them, so the garments could have a new life and live again. He proposed new recycling project of the House.

Interpretation of ready-to-wear, interpretation of Artisanal line, and the continuation of the “Recicla” project, which offers unique pieces made from vintage Haute Couture pieces interpreted by John Galliano for the new Spring Summer 2021 line of Maison Margiela.

“Upcycling”, as John Galliano called it, contains a multitude of promises, and adapts to manual work as to an industrial mode of production. To embrace it as a basic principle of fashion today is to be pragmatic about the challenges of the time, but also to recognize with respect that clothing can be something other than a simple object of consumption: a dynamic witness of eras, fashions and the passage of time, both artefact and blank canvas of progress.
