MONCLER by Pierpaolo Piccioli, creative director of Valentino house, presented in Milan Renaissance inspired capsule collection 2018 “Puffer Nuns” Coats. Great success to these unique pieces brought extravagant actor Ezra Miller who recently wore it for the premiere of new movie Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes Of Grindelwald.
Textile designer and photography Suzanne Jongmans has captured the collection in a series of artworks further referencing the designer’s inspirations. models are photographed in poses and dress symbolic of religious paintings and rituals.
In the latest installment of its multi-brand collaborative genius project, Moncler presents a capsule collection of renaissance-inspired outerwear. the Italian ski-wear manufacturer tapped Maison Valentino’s Pierpaolo Piccioli, creative director to the fashion house.
Piccioli uses Moncler’s renowned lightweight down-filled-nylon to create an otherworldly collection combining Haute Couture and ski-wear. the Italian designer uses pure shapes boasting bold colors to execute a vision he said was inspired by early-renaissance paintings, echoing religious icons like the Madonna. padded zip-up hooded capes cinched in at the bodice are layered over skirts that paired with matching gloves offer full-body coverage.
The genius project first debuted during an immersive event in Milan in February. Moncler has since been launching each collection incrementally over the six-month season. Pierpaolo Piccioli describes the collection as “an uttermost expression of my taste and a very personal effort”. It drops on October 11 in Moncler boutiques and the brand’s online store.
