Balenciaga becomes ghastlier and ghastlier. What’s the concept? Demna, designer of Balenciaga, made an announcement before the show today:
“I hate boxes and I hate labels and I hate being labeled and placed in a box. Society, the internet, and the world in general loves doing that, because it feels safe this way. One needs to have courage and persistence to truly assume their identity and who they really are. Every day becomes a battlefield to defend this unique identity. And the more you try to be yourself the more you get punched in your face. But how great it is to be different from one another. The challenge is to get up and keep walking towards your true self after you have been beaten up and knocked down. Fashion loves boxes and labels more than anything. Luxury, not luxury, street, couture, good, bad, buzz, viral, all the same, who cares.
Putting luxury fashion into the box of polished, exclusive, and visually expensive is limited and pretty old school. Individualism in fashion is downgraded to pseudotrends dictated by a post in stories of some celebrity of the moment. I’ve decided to no longer explain my collections and verbalize my designs, but to express a state of mind. Fashion is a visual art and all we need is for it to be seen through someone’s eyes. Fashion in its best case scenario should not need a story to be sold to someone. You either like it or not. The set of this show is a metaphor for digging for truth and being down to earth. Let us let everyone be anyone and make love not war”.
So all this talk about unique identity, cheap reversed drugstore psychology, luxury, is just another rubbish from Demna. It is already been noticed that this person is seriously disturbed, and not in creative way. So he said “And the more you try to be yourself the more you get punched in your face.”
So let’s give you one. All of this “Fashion is a visual art”, “true self” and “digging for truth and being down to earth” story is some sort of mickey written by or for Kering, parent organization.
Demna Gvasalia, is Georgian, pro-Putin designer, who brings, as a good spokesman of his Master, images of nuclear winter, monsters, waste what Putin recently described when he threatened Europe and the USA to use nuclear weapons for all population of Earth. Demna shows nuclear explosion, monsters, population of planet during this period. But you know what? We are not afraid! We won’t be threatened not by you, not by Putin.
I also go visual on you, as the criticism is not just an art but analyses. I just add here the tag words: nuclear explosion, mouthguard, Halloween bear, 404 Error, Lay’s chips bag or aluminum nuclear protection food bag. How about you, Cédric Charbit (CEO of Balenciaga), did you like the Nuc show?

By the way, couple of things to notice. Last look – black leather suit – this is almost exact one of the looks of Rick Owens from 2012 Fall Winter. This Lay’s chips bag is exact reproduction of the bags known on Chinese market and available on Alibaba and Aliexpress internationally, created for cosplays and theme parties. You can even get jacket and the socks to match there.

Man, there are so many ideas you can pick from Chinese young and creative… WOW!!!!! Aren’t you kinda ashamed of yourself, top 10% influential Georgian designer ????? These small Chinese producers are not exactly the richest. How nice and generous of you to pick their concept. Here are some more ideas for you – matching socks and hoodies, as you are lacking these.
FYI, this concept of food on clothing is very well developed by Jeremy Scott for Moschino. And also Lay’s is a company who has moral rights and trademarks. Did you ask the authorization to use it on the bags you plan to sell for… let’s say 950$?
