Bottega Veneta Fall Winter 2022-2023 Milan Fashion Week. Review by Eleonora de Gray, Editor-in-Chief of RUNWAY MAGAZINE.
Daniel Lee, former designer of Bottega Veneta, left November 10th 2021 the brand for his known adventures. This designer set several trends, like ultra green huge rain boots and handbags. Many brands followed, and the brand gained in popularity among young generation, and in sales. So far so good, his place took his apprentice Matthieu Blazy. Expectations… expectations… expectations…
Matthieu Blazy was working at Maison Martin Margiela, 3 years with designer Raf Simons for the American house of Calvin Klein, Blazy became an apprentice of Daniel Lee, and now took his place as creative director.
So finally we all had to see the new collection. And I looked very closely… I looking at the details… and I didn’t find anything to see. There’s nothing to see in this collection apart from sparkly things, banal transparent dresses and shirts, and glossy boots. There’s a good leather work though. Nice bags and all, which by the way, you can find in any other brand. Now we all have a question how brand will stand now. And it is still a question.
