Dior Haute Couture Fall Winter 2021-2022. Review by Eleonora de Gray, Editor-in-Chief of RUNWAY MAGAZINE.
What is the link between the remarkable embroidered walls of the Sala dei Ricami in Rome’s Palazzo Colonna and the Dior Couture Fall Winter 2021-2022 collection by Maria Grazia Chiuri? – asks Dior House their spectators. Absolutely NONE – is the answer. What is the difference between Leonardo da Vinci and amateur painter? None.
Well, technics maybe, but not even that. Artist Eva Jospin interpreted her vision and decorated the show set the way Maria Grazia Chiuri envisioned it – very Bobo (bohemian style), in the worst way possible.
The press-release vaguely speaks about the couture, and mostly praised the possibilities to do the show. And here we are, “The return to being present”. But perhaps it is a good time to ask “Return to being present but for WHAT?” That is a question Dior house can’t ask, and we can’t answer.
“Dresses with magnificent pleats, trains, and hand-woven chains,” – written in press-release. Someone please explain to me what are the magnificent pleats, and how they are differentiated from just pleads. The description of the collection is pompous and wordy, but doesn’t really say anything about dull looks and wasted magnificent savoir-faire of Dior Couture House atelier.
