Dolce Gabbana Fall Winter 2022-2023 Men. Review by Eleonora de Gray, Editor-in-Chief of RUNWAY MAGAZINE.
Be scared, be very terrified… “Fatto A Mano” by Dolce Gabbana is tagged all over town. Artist Boche One tagged all pieces with the bombs and colors. This is no more “Fatto A Mano”, this is “Fatto A Bomba”.
Or more likely in mode of Hip-rick, the mix style of Colson Baker, known to public as Machine Gun Kelly. An American rapper, singer, and model presented the fist and last look of the collection and opened the show with his mix. Machine Gun Kelly is known for his compositional blending of contemporary and alternative hip hop with rock.
For this season Dolce Gabbana brand decided to abandon Italian elegance, there’s no more amazing Prince, or charming look, or glamorous shiluettes.
Today Dolce Gabbana go for the marketing target. And it’s very clear: China TV-hosts, singers with these slinky flashy costumes, and Los Angeles grizzly looks with lots and lots of fake fur, tags, and enormous puffer coats. successfully launched by Moncler in 2019. Oh yes, and tags of course. Dolce Gabbana left behind their own iconic timeless elegant style and went behind Balenciaga, Bottega Veneta, Givenchy (LVMH), who lost massively on changing identity – grunge trash style and Audrey Hepburn don’t match.
Imagine when you walk on the street with this huge tagged puffer coat you are almost inviting all kids to come and to tag, as if you are giving them the space on your very expensive garment.
But after all, that might be a new research, or looking for the place on the market which was so well taken by Moncler, or Philipp Plein. But why drugging behind of something that already exists instead of continuing to create own unique elegant style? Only Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana would know. Market is like sea, it calls, and probably they couldn’t resist.
In the press-release they announced that they invented a new silhouette, a new look…. Oh well… they lived in the 1980s. Huge shoulders is NOT their invention, it was a trend once upon a time. Bringing back huge shoulders after Balmain and several other brands is still drugging behind their poor marketing strategies after 10 different luxury brands.
