The Most Extravagant looks at Met Gala 2021. Runway magazine choice.

The Met Gala, formally called the Costume Institute Gala or the Costume Institute Benefit and also known as the Met Ball, is an annual fundraising gala for the benefit of the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute in New York City. It marks the opening of the Costume Institute’s annual fashion exhibit. It always happens on Fifth Avenue, Manhattan, New York City.

Tonight finally Newyorkers can enjoy the show, and the most spectacular gowns. The exposition of the designers were divided in two parts. “In America: A Lexicon of Fashion” and “In America: An Anthology of Fashion.” An intimate gala to celebrate the exhibit’s opening cochaired by Timothée Chalamet, Billie Eilish, Amanda Gorman, and Naomi Osaka with honorary chairs Tom Ford, Instagram’s Adam Mosseri, and Anna Wintour. The exhibit organized to resemble a home, with intersecting walls and rooms that will establish what “Bolton calls “a new vocabulary that’s more relevant and more reflective of the times, as it says in press-release.

30 000$ ticket didn’t stop more than 100 stars to come and take the place at this evening. Even Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez with message on her dress “Tax the Rich” decided to attend the evening, despite her fortune and questionable tax declarations.

This evening was full of surprises and different extravaganza. There are designers to name who dressed most of the stars: Demna Gvasalia – Balenciaga, Pierpaolo Piccioli – Valentino, Thom Browne. This year Met Gala 2021 attended mostly by Djs and Rap singers than actors. So surprising looks were created for them including green robots and balls.

Editorial team of RUNWAY MAGAZINE together with Eleonora de Grau, Editor-in-Chief, finally made the choice of the most extravagant looks, or the looks which opened up big discussion tonight. That wasn’t easy.

The most shocking look belong to Kim Kardashian, who came accompanied by Demna Gvasalia, creative director of Balenciaga “faceless”, like darth vaders, or Venetian characters of plague.

No matter how Billie Eilish was praised during this evening. Strangely enough she decided to change her identity, and go as Marilyn Monroe. Apparently green is no longer her favorite color. And another ridiculous point. According to Billie Eilish posts on twitter and instagram she accepted to wear Oscar de la Renta gown only if the fashion brand will stop using fur. She probably didn’t know that Oscar de la Renta for years don’t use fur, rarely only fake fur. But how could she. That would be success if she’ll be able to actually pronounce the name of the fashion brand she’s wearing, which is not always a success.

Women cause was very presented tonight. Another message concerning women was delivered to us by Cara Delevingne. She wore “30 Montaigne” white trousers, sandals and a leather plastron with the phrase “Peg The Patriarchy” by Maria Grazia Chiuri, creative director of Dior house. What it means exactly. I guess Cara Delevingne and Maria Grazia Chiuri said it with an outfit “Stick it! to the man“. If you wonder – it is actually a sexual act. Go figure…
