Yes, we all read press-releases. But we all know how they are. According to it the name of the collection is “The Persistence of Memory”, inspired by Salvador Dali’s Melting Clocks.

But this collection is so much more than that. This is a story about LOVE, a tribute to Karl Lagerfeld. Jeremy Scott, creative director of Moschino, expressed his persistent memory to Karl Lagerfeld. In each and every look we see melting Lagerfeld’s tweeds, Lagerfeld’s suits and mini-dresses, adored by chains or broches of Gripoix.

Hairdos of the models are from Chanel Couture collection Fall Winter 1999-2000. Music… Germain DJ mix, which reminds me of the DJ mixes Karl Lagerfeld used to have at the latest Couture Chanel shows. And two times during the show “Lagerfeld” was said out loud.

“To Karl Lagerfeld with LOVE” a beautiful everlasting love story told tonight by Jeremy Scott. I saw pieces from the 1990s created by Karl Lagerfeld for Chanel. His iconic looks, chains, cuts… And I also understood the reason for this tribute.

This 2023 year is the year of Karl Lagerfeld in the fashion world. The theme for the Met Gala, which will take place in May, is Karl Lagerfeld. And it means someone has to dress the stars, or the stars will have to find something to be dressed, and not just in Chanel pieces found somewhere in vintage stores.

What Jeremy Scott shows is much more creative. And then who knows, maybe the Met Gala will start a trend, and we all will go back to mini-black and white suits, chain-belts and big fake pearls. Someone had to pick up great heritage of Karl Lagerfeld…
