Controversial Kering Christmas – Gucci and Balenciaga spotlight, or Yellow Luxury Group Christmas stories by Eleonora de Gray, Editor-in-Chief of RUNWAY MAGAZINE.
All luxury groups, fashion houses celebrate Christmas and Holidays in their own way. Kering decided to go for controversy, as if it’ll put this luxury group directly in the spotlight.
Yellow Luxury Group meaning
Kering is a luxury group, parent organization of Gucci and Balenciaga brands, leaded by François-Henri Pinault, Chairman & CEO.
This group is a known for many scandals related to the counterfeit, naming one – Gucci and Dapper Dan, when invested in known counterfeit goods tailor from Harlem, New York, paying out to several media to clean up the reputation. This group is also known for turning Haute Couture brands like Balenciaga into trash bags, or a “concept” as they like to think. This new concept leaded simply to the mad, BDSM – as a variety of often erotic practices or roleplaying involving bondage, discipline, dominance and submission, sadomasochism, and other related interpersonal dynamics. Cosplay, Mad and BDSM… read the full story HERE.
So now François-Henri Pinault decided to double the chances to get public interest. Some show creative work, some do charity, François-Henri Pinault fires people and do the BDSM kids commercials for Christmas. How Christmassy and entertaining…
In journalism we have a term “Yellow Press”. It is an American term for journalism and associated newspapers that present little or no legitimate news, using eye-catching headlines for increased sales. Now I guess now we have to invent a new term “Yellow Couture” for the brands, who’s instead of presenting creative designs, and exquisite couture presents scandals, fetish and mad holes.
Gucci scandal: Alessandro Michele, artistic director, got fired
To celebrate 50th anniversary of artistic director of Gucci Alessandro Michele (born in November 25, 1972), Kering decided to give him the best present of all – FIRED HIM with a nice press-release and thank you note. He’s been working in Gucci house since 2002, and named as an artistic director since 2015.
Happy 50th anniversary, Alessandro! François-Henri Pinault, Chairman & CEO of Kering, said: “The road that Gucci and Alessandro walked together over the past years is unique and will remain as an outstanding moment in the history of the House. I am grateful to Alessandro for bringing so much of himself in this adventure. His passion, his imagination, his ingenuity and his culture put Gucci center stage, where its place is. I wish him a great next chapter in his creative journey.”
Alessandro Michele said “There are times when paths part ways because of the different perspectives each one of us may have. Today an extraordinary journey ends for me, lasting more than twenty years, within a company to which I have tirelessly dedicated all my love and creative passion. During this long period Gucci has been my home, my adopted family.”
And he became an orphan. Any foster family to adopt?
Gucci’s design office will continue to carry the direction of the House forward until a new creative organization will be announced. End of story.
Balenciaga scandal: BDSM Kids commercial
For the last couple of days social media networks with the wave of “disgusted” public comments on series of the photos published on Balenciaga web-site and social media networks featuring kids with sadomasochists accessories and bandaged toys. And as if giving a finger cover photo with Balenciaga bag had a court document about “child porn” partially hidden in the image.
According to the original press release issued last week, the “campaign iterates on the artist’s series Toy Stories, an exploration of what people collect and receive as gifts.”
After nuclear mad show Balenciaga, participation in extremist and resist presentation of Ye (Kayne West), Demna Gvasalia, artistic director of Balenciaga decided to take a Criminal and sick highway to hell by sexualizing children in the BDSM publicity.
In a shocking images, one of the photos appeared to show a photocopy of an excerpt of a court document ruling on child pornography, igniting a firestorm of criticism via #BoycottBalenciaga. According to several commentators, this came from page 11 of a Supreme Court decision from 2008, when the court upheld a federal law prohibiting the distribution of child porn.
Angry responses on social media to the photos featured children with plush teddy bear bags dressed in BDSM-inspired outfits. One child is pictured with an assortment of empty wine glasses, leather sheets and other BDSM accessories.
Balenciaga publicly apologized and took down the publicity… but it didn’t get unnoticed. It is quiet disgusting to get kids Christmas publicity this way.
Apologies of Balenciaga: “We sincerely apologize for any offence our holiday campaign may have caused. Our plush bear bags should not have been featured with children in this campaign. We have immediately removed the campaign from all platforms.” “We apologize for displaying unsettling documents in our campaign. We take this matter very seriously and are taking legal action against the parties responsible for creating the set and including unapproved items for our spring 2023 photo shoot. We strongly condemn abuse of children in any form. We stand for children safety and well-being,” Balenciaga added in the Instagram post.
In this story no one got fired, but kids got ready to be molested! How high fashion of you starting to promote children’s porn! Gross is a small word for it. Who can take your apology seriously?!
Ugly Christmas from Kering, everybody! And a Disgusting New Year!
An update December 2, 2022 from Demna, creative director of Balenciaga and Cedric Charbit, CEO of Balenciaga
I want to personally apologize for the wrong artistic choice of concept for the gifting campaign with the kids and I take my responsibility. It was inappropriate to have kids promote objects that had nothing to do with them.
As much as I would sometimes like to provoke a thought through my work, I would NEVER have an intention to do that with such an awful subject as child abuse that I condemn. Period.
I need to learn from this, listen and engage with child protection organizations to know how I can contribute and help on this terrible subject.
I apologize to anyone offended by the visuals and Balenciaga has guaranteed that adequate measures will be taken but also to take accountability in protecting child welfare in every way we can.
Did you know that demons lie? And it goes even better – an apology from Cedric Charbit, CEO of Balenciaga, after blaming North Six Inc and Nicholas Des Jardins Inc for abusive kids camplaign.
What lawsuit he was talking about? The one where Balenciaga wanted to tell to everybody that no one was aware about this shooting, and no one was aware of the images posted on Balenciaga Instagram account and their web-site. Really?!..
There are several words could describe these apologies “pathetic”, would be not just one of them. Many were so excited taking Demna’s actions in Balenciaga fashion house for an artistic concept, working on a scandal and so on.
But in reality what it really is? This is fashion world not a Vatican but there’s a one word for it – satanism. Demna Gvasalia, his stylist from Russia Lotta Volkova are very much involved in it and in all the practices, including sexual practices this cult involves. Sexual perversity, BDSM are the most known and the common practices. Demna Gvasalia openly started to show coverings which goes with these practices already in December 2021 when he showed Balenciaga Fall 2022 (review). See all photos of the collection HERE.
The images shared by London from the account of Lotta Volkova before it became private, included one of a woman who is nude from the waist down, lying on a pentagram on the floor where she is tied up by rope. A satanic-looking figure sits on a pentagram-shaped throne at her head, also nude from the waist down, with smoke coming out of his upturned hands. Another image was of a dead woman lying in a field with her front ripped open and entrails trailing out on to the grass in front of her. Young boys, young girls….. blood, satanic symbols and skulls… everybody saw it… But 2 fashion magazines called this stylist Lotta Volkova and Demna Gvasalia – “the coolest”.
The last Balenciaga collection presented in Paris for Spring Summer 2023 season “Nuclear Mud Show” speaks for itself. No one saw it?
