Paris Fashion Week Fall 2021-2022 Best Of. Review by Elenora de Gray, Editor-in-Chief of RUNWAY MAGAZINE.
It was a forth digital fashion week in Paris, and probably the most successful one. Last year for Haute Couture and Ready-to-Wear digital fashion weeks no one was really prepared, designers were not ready to produce the videos, or didn’t have enough sources for production of the new collections, as all sales dramatically dropped, Fashion Federation didn’t have the technological tools, and simply well organized platform to do that. Who would have thought that to put Youtube links with LIVE broadcast would be so complicated, and on top organize the interviews by skype, mobilize the influencers if any, request the stars or Ministers to open the fashion week…. and obviously try to keep up with Milan and New York, who handled these new digital tasks remarkably well.
Already in July 2020 Cameramoda, Italian Fashion Federation, presented to the media a new digital platform, gathered Editors and the journalists and organized digital presentations, interviews perfectly well. In September 2020 CFDA, American Fashion Federation, launched a digital platform Runway360, and in February announced that calendar for New York fashion week, specifically dates for the presentations are revoked, so that American designers can present the collections all year long.
French Fashion Federation this fashion week basically administrated the calendar, and the time when houses can officially show their video presentations or shows. Many fashion houses for the Fall Winter 2021-2022 season decided to go with creating a video concept, a story, which is not such bad idea, and to engage the actors, dancers, singers, musicians, you name it. Some houses decided to keep it traditionally, just film the fashion show, even there were no public.
So in general being at home, and without socializing much, designers plunged into the books, searching meaning of life, fashion, marketing and new trends. And the fight for the markets became tougher. With the digital fashion weeks the public engagement and interest in the fashion brands took absolutely new way. Fashion brands finally understood that giving to the so called “influencers” absolute control of public opinion of the brand is the most dangerous thing they could actually ever do. In fact the public interest in fashion dramatically dropped.
2021 here we are. All digital from heels to crown, but still go shopping in real world, and spending real money, and we still want to look very stylish in the real world, even when we go for groceries, as there’s not much places to go anyway.
2021 trend – flued silhouette, bright colors, comfortable eco-friendly materials. See all looks from PARIS FASHION WEEK FALL WINTER 2021-2022 SEASON HERE. Best of selection by RUNWAY MAGAZINE.
